About

Michael Teneriello is an affiliate faculty in the Department of Women’s Health at Dell Medical School. A specialist in gynecologic oncology, Teneriello has been practicing with Texas Oncology since 1996. He completed medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and went on to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. After completion of training, he served as an obstetrician and gynecologist at the Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan. Upon returning to the United States, he completed his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Cancer Institute. Subsequently, he served as the director of gynecologic oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Teneriello has served as the chairman of the gynecologic research committee for The US Oncology Network and as a principal investigator for US Oncology Research, a lead institution in the NCI-sponsored cooperative group NRG Oncology. He has conducted more than 30 clinical cancer trials in Austin as the national or local principal investigator, and he has published extensively in the field of gynecologic oncology.

Teneriello specializes in the care of women with gynecologic cancers including cervical, uterine or endometrial, ovarian, vulvar and vaginal cancers, and gestational trophoblastic disease. Teneriello has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic surgery, complex pelvic surgery and radical surgery for advanced cancers, as well as chemotherapeutic and novel biologic treatments for gynecologic cancers.
