About

Michael Mackert is the director of the Center for Health Communication at The University of Texas at Austin, and he holds faculty appointments in the Department of Population Health and Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations.

His research focuses primarily on the strategies that can be used in traditional and new digital media to provide effective health communication to low health literate audiences. He is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed journal publications and the book “Designing Effective Health Messages.”
