Laurie Rector McCowan

Laurie Rector McCowan supports faculty and staff with post-award assistance in Dell Medical School’s Office of Research. This includes sponsored project account management guidance, costing allocations, cost transfers, credit requests and purchasing approval, with a focus on subrecipient monitoring. In collaboration with the assistant director, McCowan also facilitates the regulatory oversight for Dell Med projects to ensure appropriate compliance with sponsor terms and conditions and other applicable regulations.

Prior to joining Dell Med, McCowan worked nearly seven years in research administration at MD Anderson Cancer Center Science Park, where she was responsible for pre- and post-award grant management for multiple labs and core facilities as well as all IACUC inspection, protocol and training coordination in the Department of Epigenetics and Molecular Carcinogenesis. In addition, McCowan brings numerous years of accounting and extensive internal and external customer service experience. She is ecstatic to be supporting the dynamic research at Dell Med.
