About

Karla Robles-Lopez, M.D., Ph.D., is a medic and a researcher with broad experience in genetics, neurology and cancer research. She studied medicine at La Salle University in Mexico City and specialized in medical genetics at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City, obtaining her license as a geneticist. She obtained her master’s in molecular medicine with a specialist pathway in cancer and her Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom.

Robles-Lopez gained over 12 years of clinical experience in genetics training with fellow students and colleagues. She served as a physician, project leader and designer for several years at a genetics laboratory in Mexico and as a physician for the National Secretariat in Mexico City before working as a postdoctoral researcher at Baylor College of Medicine and the Dell Pediatric Research Institute at UT Austin.

As a research associate, she is committed to helping principal investigators and researchers discover the pathological events leading to the disease state and their relationship to other disorders. Additionally, Robles-Lopez is the clinic coordinator for both the Dell Children’s Neurofibromatosis Clinic and the Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis and Related Neuroimmune Disorders Clinic within UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s.
