About
Justin Drake, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Women’s Health. Drake joins Dell Medical School from the Texas Advanced Computing Center, where he is a research associate in the Health Analytics Group.
Drake received his doctorate in computational biophysics from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2017. Using a combination of molecular simulations, high-performance computing and biophysics, his research focused on the structural and thermodynamic properties of intrinsically disordered proteins as it relates to protein folding, signaling and pathogenic aggregation. Prior to that, he earned his bachelor’s degree in computational biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where he was involved in genomic research.
Drake’s current research interests lie at the interface of ubiquitous computing/pervasive monitoring and health care. Specifically, he is interested in the development of smart and connected health technologies and analytics that will enable the next generation of data-driven tools for perinatal care.
Drake lives in Austin with his wife — Christina, a registered nurse — and their daughter, Finley, a future Longhorn.
