Junfeng Jiao, Ph.D., is a courtesy associate professor in the Department of Population Health, associate professor in School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin and director of the Urban Information Lab.
Jiao received his doctorate in urban design and planning from the University of Washington. His research focuses on healthy community planning and design. He develops technologies to quantify the built environment of where people live, work and play and further measures its healthy impact.
His research has been published by the American Journal of Public Health, the International Journal of Obesity, Nutrition and Diabetes, Preventive Medicine Reports, Journal of Transport and Health and others. His work also has been reported on by the Associated Press, NBC, NPR, the Chicago Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Seattle Times, the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle and many other news outlets.
