About
J. Mica Guzman, M.D., is an assistant professor with the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care and a courtesy professor in the Department of Population Health. He is also a university professional physician with The University of Texas at Austin intercollegiate athletics and co-team physician for Austin Bold FC.
Guzman is intently interested and passionate regarding sports medicine in its totality of clinical presentation, musculoskeletal injury, varied populations, preventative interventions and measures, nonsurgical treatments, sports-related illness and sports performance. He is interested in the use of diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound in evaluations and procedures from an evidence-based and cost-effective treatment modality and in helping patients determine if surgery is needed or if it could be managed through other treatments.
He has interests in both graduate and undergraduate academic medical education and in teaching clinical pearls in various settings within the clinic, on the field or during mass event coverage.
Guzman has received awards and recognition from the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians and Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine for his involvement and dedication to academic teaching and instruction.
