About
Joshua Apte is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at UT Austin, with courtesy and affiliate appointments in the Department of Population Health of Dell Medical School and the South Asia Institute of the College of Liberal Arts.
His research group uses field measurements and models to understand the relationships between urban air pollutant emissions, population exposure and human health. His current research emphases include: high resolution air pollution exposure measurement techniques, including mobile monitoring and lower-cost sensors; and air quality in developing world cities and high-impact strategies for reducing the energy, climate and health consequences of infrastructure systems.
Apte was the ITRI-Rosenfeld Postdoctoral Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a Fulbright-Nehru Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in energy and resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University.
