Jason Terrell, M.D.

About

Jason Terrell joined the Department of Oncology at Dell Medical School as part-time faculty in 2017 with the goal of promoting industry-academia collaboration and encouraging entrepreneurship in biotechnology. Terrell currently holds multiple senior leadership positions in pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical device companies, and he has a strong background in clinical pathology and translational medicine.

Terrell’s biotechnology experience includes roles as independent nonexecutive chairman, executive director, chief executive officer, global chief medical officer, chief scientific officer and national corporate laboratory director. Before entering the biotechnology industry full time, Terrell founded, built and sold multiple private businesses in the diagnostic and clinical laboratory services arena.

Terrell brings to the department a career of experience in medical product commercialization, from the analytical and applied clinical sciences of research and development, to the financial and administrative challenges of product launches and scaling operations, to milestone-based funding strategies of the private and public capital markets.

Terrell’s primary research interests include nucleosomics, neoantigen/biomarker discovery, novel drug delivery systems and digital health care delivery solutions. Terrell strives to achieve a cohesive balance between academic and industry approaches to product development with a focus on accelerating regulatory approval and commercialization.
