About

Gabriel Garza, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Garza is also a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with UT Health Austin Pediatric Psychiatry at Dell Children’s.

Garza earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he was recognized for demonstrated excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service. He completed residency training in psychiatry and his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Wake Forest University School of Medicine at North Carolina Baptist Health. During Garza’s time at Wake Forest, he was an active participant in medical student teaching, served as chief fellow and received numerous awards for service excellence and dedication to patient care.

Garza sees children and adolescents up to 18 years old at his outpatient practice at the Texas Child Study Center at Dell Children’s Medical Center. He also supervises psychiatry residents and fellows in their outpatient training for the Dell Medical School Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.

He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Travis County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and American Psychological Association.

Additionally, Garza serves as an adjunct clinical affiliate at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing.
