About

Erica C. Garcia-Pittman is an associate professor at Dell Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She specializes in geriatric psychiatry and previously served as the medical director of the Generations Outpatient Program. She is also the current Ascension Seton Mind Institute outpatient clinical director and is the rotation site director for the Adult and Geriatric resident outpatient clinics.

Garcia-Pittman spends the majority of her clinical time teaching and training psychiatry residents and medical students to care for senior adults. Her clinical focus includes working with families and caring for patients who have late-life mood and anxiety symptoms as well as changes in memory and behavior.

She received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Rice University in Houston and completed her medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Her psychiatry residency training was completed at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and she completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. She is board-certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Garcia-Pittman is an active member of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the Austin Psychiatric Society, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, the Travis County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association. And she is currently serving the City of Austin on the Commission on Seniors.
