David Heckler, Ph.D., ABPP, is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Heckler is a licensed psychologist and board certified in clinical child and adolescent psychology. He specializes in providing evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with anxiety, depression and chronic pain. Heckler provides behavioral health services within the Collaborative Abdominal Pain Program within gastroenterology and the Headache Interdisciplinary Program within the neurology department at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
Heckler actively participates in applied clinical research related to improving children’s and adolescents’ management of pain, somatic symptoms and internalizing disorders. Additionally, Heckler provides training and supervision to varying levels of psychology trainees.
