About

Blake Barber, D.O., received his medical degree from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. He then completed his pediatric residency and chief resident year at Dell Children’s Medical Center as part of the pediatric residency program at Dell Medical School. He subsequently completed a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship, including a chief fellow year, at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston before returning to Austin to rejoin Dell Children’s pediatric emergency medicine faculty group.

Barber’s clinical and academic interests involve procedural and trauma resuscitation skill development for trainees through simulation as well as bedside teaching. He has presented at national conferences on his scholarly work involving assessing procedural competency in pediatric emergency medicine fellows. He also has an interest in working with trainees of all levels in the emergency department, as everyone brings their own experiences and knowledge gaps and finds that there is always something to learn from one another. Barber enjoys creating a safe learning environment where all can develop knowledge and skills to provide more effective and compassionate care for patients and families.
