About

Amenze Osa Oriaifo is a cataract and glaucoma specialist and has performed thousands of surgeries and laser procedures. Osa is a “triple-buckeye,” who topped off her training with a glaucoma subspecialization in Dallas, Texas. She is board-certified and brings with her a depth of knowledge about glaucoma and various treatment options. Osa enjoys staying up to date on the newest minimally invasive procedural and surgical treatments for glaucoma, and she holds multiple committee positions for various national ophthalmology organizations, which allows her to cultivate her own personal mix of education, empathy and efficiency to best serve her patients across the Austin area.

Osa has Nigerian heritage, was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and grew up in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate, medical school and residency training at The Ohio State University. While training in Ohio, Osa received the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Award and created her own award called the Dr. Clotilde Bowen Women of Excellence Award as well as a pre-med mentorship workshop called Makin’ It to Med School 101. She then moved with her family to Dallas, where she completed her glaucoma fellowship at UT Southwestern. There, she trained 27 residents and provided clinical and surgical care at nine different Dallas-area hospitals. After her fellowship, Osa practiced nearby in the San Marcos area for four years before transitioning to the Central Austin area.

Osa’s interests include mentorship, diversity in medicine and global health. She serves the American Academy of Ophthalmology on both the Minority Ophthalmology Mentorship Program Committee and the Online Education Committee. She has completed medical mission trips in both Costa Rica and Ghana. She has also been featured in multiple ophthalmology podcasts and journal articles.

Osa has been selected as Austin’s Super Doctors Rising Star the past two years and as one of the Top 10 Black doctors of Central Texas. She was nationally chosen as Millennial Eye’s “One to Watch.” She practices at Texan Eye, serving patients at three clinics. Osa is also a published book author and enjoys time with her family, traveling abroad and serving her community.
