Metts graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with honors from Princeton University in 2015. Metts received her doctorate in clinical psychology at University of California, Los Angeles, in 2024. There, she worked in depression and anxiety laboratory, where she researched risk for and enhancing resilience against depression and anxiety.

After completing clinical internship at the Austin VA Outpatient Clinic, she began her postdoctoral training with the Interpersonal Impact of Trauma Lab associated with the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. Metts conducts research on veterans and serves as a therapist in a clinical trial testing the efficacy of Strength at Home Parents.

Metts’ current research program focuses on monitoring risk and stress response using psychological and physiological assessment to improve prevention of depression and anxiety and develop just-in-time adaptive interventions for veterans. At Verdant Mental Health, Metts practices evidence-based treatments (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT) for conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma and disordered eating in community adolescents and adults.
