About

Alexandra Fisher, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Dell Medical School and a licensed pediatric psychologist in UT Health Austin Pediatric Psychiatry at Dell Children’s. She is embedded in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease program at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas as the psychosocial team lead and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents and families affected by pediatric and congenital heart disease.

Lamari-Fisher earned her doctorate in psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. During her doctoral education, she completed a fellowship in integrated behavioral health care. She completed an internship in pediatric clinical psychology at the Texas Child Study Center and a fellowship in clinical psychology and research at Dell Children’s Medical Center. More recently, she completed her certification in parent-child interaction therapy.

Lamari-Fisher’s research interests focus on using a risk and resiliency paradigm to identify both factors that may put patients and families at risk for developing mental health outcomes secondary to medical events and protective factors that may mitigate the negative effects. In October 2019, the Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology awarded Lamari-Fisher and a colleague first place in the annual abstract competition for CV team abstract.
