Attracting Top Doctors to Austin

As of July 2023, Dell Med is directly or indirectly connected to attracting 449 new doctors — representing 63% of faculty — to Austin since 2014. This represents roughly 10% of Travis County physicians.

Caring for our Community

In the last year (June 2022-May 2023), 8,917 unique patients at UT Health Austin (Dell Med’s clinical practice) used MAP, Medicaid or Medicare — overall, about 36% of all unique patients*.

Of 323 faculty members employed by Dell Med, 262 — 81% — work full or part time in the community with a range of clinical partners, including CommUnityCare Health Centers, Ascension Seton and Integral Care. This year, they will provide 395,000 hours of care*.

Dell Med Residents & Fellows in the Community

Dell Med’s 442 residents and fellows also play a critical role in providing care locally — more than 575,000 hours at 60-plus clinics and hospitals.

About 450,000 hours of trainee-provided care — 78% — are at CommUnityCare Health Centers, Dell Seton Medical Center, Dell Children’s Medical Center or Ascension Seton Shoal Creek.
