About
Sri Chalikonda, M.D., MHA, FACS, serves as chief clinical transformation officer and vice dean of practice for Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin. He also serves as professor in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care. He leads system-wide efforts to design and implement a digitally enabled, integrated health system that advances quality, access and value across UT Health Austin and the future University of Texas Medical Center.
A nationally recognized surgical oncologist, Chalikonda specializes in complex abdominal cancers, including pancreatic, hepatic and peritoneal surface malignancies. He performed Cleveland Clinic’s first robotic Whipple procedure and first hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy for peritoneal carcinomatosis, setting new standards in minimally invasive and precision cancer surgery.
Before joining Dell Med, he served as chair of the surgical institute and associate chief medical officer at Allegheny Health Network and as professor of surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine. Earlier, he held leadership roles at Cleveland Clinic, including chair of surgical operations and director of robotic surgery.
Chalikonda earned his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in India and completed his surgical residency at Cleveland Clinic, followed by fellowships in minimally invasive surgery and surgical oncology at Cleveland Clinic and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His research focuses on cancer care, health system innovation and clinical outcomes, with more than 50 peer-reviewed publications to his credit.
