About

<p>J. Mica Guzman, Jr., MD, MBA, MS, DABFM, RMSK, CAQSM, is a board-certified sports medicine specialist and the Primary Care Sports Medicine Clinical Director for the <a href=”https://utmedicine.org/get-care/browse/clinics/musculoskeletal-institute/sports-medicine”>Sports and Injury Clinic</a> within UT Medicine’s <a href=”https://utmedicine.org/get-care/browse/clinics/musculoskeletal-institute”>Musculoskeletal Institute</a>. He also serves as the Clinical Director for both Bone Health and Concussion Care within the Musculoskeletal Institute and the Medical Director of Sports Medicine and Events Coverage for the Musculoskeletal Institute. He specializes in caring for patients with sports-related and musculoskeletal injuries. Additionally, Dr. Guzman is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care and a courtesy assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Population Health at The University of Texas at Austin.</p>
<p>Dr. Guzman earned both his master’s degree in biological sciences and his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Joseph’s University Haub School of Business. He completed a residency in family medicine at Northwestern McGaw at Lake Forest and a fellowship in sports medicine at Mercyhealth Janesville.</p>
<p>Dr. Guzman holds an additional certification in musculoskeletal ultrasonography through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, which he uses for event and sideline coverage as well as in the clinic for patient care. He serves as a team physician for The University of Texas at Austin Athletics and is an official medical provider for the Austin Spurs NBA G-League. He is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.</p>
