About
Jacob Smigel was born and raised in Las Vegas. He worked as an EMT while in college at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has been in southwest Austin since 2015. He’s been working full-time at Ascension Seton Highland Lakes (rural, critical-access hospital in Burnet, an hour away from Austin) since 2015, and finds it very rewarding.
His academic interests are practicing rural emergency medicine, “difficult” patients and lifestyle medicine. His passion is sharing that with residents. He has newborn twin boys at home, and enjoys writing and performing music, woodworking, vegetable gardening and exploring nature with his family.
