About
Irina Belinsky is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic surgery, taking care of adult and pediatric patients who need surgery of the eyelid, orbit and tear duct system. She was born in Ukraine and grew up in New York City. She graduated magna cum laude from New York University.
Belinsky attended Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, where she was awarded a National Institutes of Health grant to study cancers affecting the eye. Graduating cum laude with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, she went on to do her internship at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and then her residency in ophthalmology at NYU Langone Health. Belinsky completed two subspecialty training fellowships: ocular oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and ophthalmic plastic surgery at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
In 2018, she received the prestigious Research Award from the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After her medical training, Belinsky joined NYU Langone Health as full-time faculty and assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology with a dual appointment in Hansjӧrg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery, serving as a surgeon, clinician and educator.
Recently, she relocated with her family to Austin, Texas, where she joined Texas Oculoplastic Consultants. She has nearly 50 publications in peer-reviewed medical literature, has authored a book chapter on eyelid reconstruction and has lectured at many national meetings. She continues to teach and mentor medical students, residents and fellows.
Belinsky serves her communities both locally — having been selected by her peers as a Top Doctor in New York, Castle Connolly Exceptional Women in Medicine and Texas Super Doctor Rising Star — and abroad, on two surgical and teaching missions to Mongolia.
