Greg Wittenburg, M.D.

About

Greg Wittenburg, M.D., is a family physician who serves as clinical team lead for the AMPATH/MAPAS México partnership and assistant professor in the Departments of Population Health and Internal Medicine at Dell Medical School. He also works in the post-acute transitions of care space with Central Health.

Dr. Wittenburg’s clinical and leadership experience has centered on the care of medically underserved and geographically isolated populations. Prior to joining Dell Med, he practiced in rural Kansas, where he served as an assistant medical director and provided emergency care within a hospital system serving large agricultural communities. His professional interests include population health, migration and border health, and the delivery of primary and emergency care in resource-limited settings.

He completed residency training at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, a broad-spectrum family medicine program affiliated with University of California, San Francisco, and subsequently completed a fellowship in rural emergency medicine in Colorado. He earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. Early experiences in public health and international health helped shape his long-standing interest in global and community-based health partnerships rooted in reciprocity, accompaniment and solidarity.
