About
Aman Mittal, M.D., was born in Southern California and grew up in Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) in biomedical engineering from Duke University and his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.
After completing his internship in internal medicine at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, he joined the residency program in ophthalmology at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Mittal then served as a cornea, external disease and refractive surgery fellow at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California Irvine, which provided a broad spectrum of clinical and surgical experience. He subsequently joined the faculty at the Dean McGee Eye Institute/University of Oklahoma Department of Ophthalmology as a clinical assistant professor in cornea, external disease, and cataract and refractive surgery.
After spending the early part of his career in Oklahoma, he decided to return to Texas to work at Dell Medical School along with his former colleagues. His clinical and surgical interests include corneal transplantation, corneal cross-linking, refractive cataract surgery, complex cataract surgery, laser vision correction and management of severe ocular surface disease. He also has extensive experience with and is interested in implementation of novel clinical workflows using health care technology to improve quality and efficiency of patient care.
