About the Event

In this lecture hosted by the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, Michael G. Vitale, M.D., presents “Current Concepts and Controversies in Spine Surgery.” Vitale is the Ana Lucia Professor of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at Columbia University Medical Center and chief of the pediatric spine and scoliosis service.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:

  1. Be aware of the most recent advancements in the diagnosis and management of spinal conditions, especially scoliosis.
  2. Identify the most common spinal conditions and their initial management.
  3. Articulate the problem in operative vs. non-operative management of scoliosis.
