Dave Rumbaugh, M.D.

About

Dave Rumbaugh is a general psychiatrist and associate program director for the Psychiatry Residency at Dell Medical School. He previously worked at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, Texas, serving in various roles, including inpatient, outpatient, and consultation-liaison psychiatry services. Prior to Baylor Scott & White, he served as a psychiatrist in the U.S. Army, spending three years at Fort Hood, Texas, as the 1st Cavalry Division Psychiatrist. He was honorably discharged in 2020.

Rumbaugh is a classically trained musician, receiving a Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and a Master of Music from Yale University School of Music. He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 2012, receiving the O. Spurgeon English Award for clinical and academic excellence in behavioral medicine and clinical psychiatry. He completed his residency in general psychiatry at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2016, where he was chief resident during his fourth year. He is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and his military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Rumbaugh is passionate about teaching and providing empathic, ethical patient care. He enjoys Star Wars, classical music, and fly fishing, and lives in Georgetown, Texas, with his wife, daughter and various pets.
