About

Nazan Aksan is a senior biostatistician in the Department of Population Health.

The substantive focus of Aksan’s training in developmental psychology and statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was on children’s development at multiple levels of analyses including emotion, behavior and cognition from infancy through school years with implications for mental health outcomes. Aksan extended this work to collectivistic cultural contexts as faculty at Koc University Istanbul Turkey. This focus from functional outcomes early in the life course shifted to developmental declines associated with diseased and healthy aging with implications for mobility (e.g. driving safety) and higher-order cognition while at University of Iowa-Neurology as research faculty.

Aksan brings over two decades of highly collaborative, post-doctoral experience in multidisciplinary teams involving physicians and engineers with expertise in modeling change in complex behavioral syndromes across the lifespan.
