The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology prioritizes physician wellness, happiness and professional fulfillment and commits to ensuring these outcomes for each fellow in the program. The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship is affiliated with Dell Med’s Department of Internal Medicine. Learn more in a welcome letter from the program director and through recent publications by core gastroenterology faculty.

Training Facilities

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Dell Seton Medical Center is the primary teaching hospital for Dell Medical School and is the only adult level 1 trauma center in the 2.4 million people strong Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos metropolitan statistical area. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides comprehensive GI inpatient consultative services as well as outpatient endoscopy and non-endoscopic procedures. The program cares for a diverse patient population including many citizens in Austin who may otherwise not have access to health care. Dell Seton is undergoing a $280 million dollar expansion that will almost double the size of the hospital upon completion in 2025..

Health Transformation Building.

A clinical partnership between UT Health Austin and Ascension Seton, Digestive Health is the faculty practice clinic for the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Digestive Health provides comprehensive care for general sub-specialty gastroenterology, including IBD, hepatology, pancreaticobiliary disease, and neurogastromotility. In the clinic, gastroenterologists work together with surgeons, dietitians, social workers and advance practice providers to provide multidisciplinary, one-stop care, which includes fluoroscopic imaging, shear wave elastography, esophageal manometry, pH studies and intestinal ultrasound. Digestive Health is located adjacent to Dell Seton Medical Center.

Ascension Seton Medical Center.

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is a 391-bed tertiary referral center with a strong focus on cutting edge subspecialty care. The patient population at ASMCA complements that at Dell Seton. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is the exclusive provider of inpatient consult services at ASMCA as well as the majority of outpatient endoscopy. ASMCA is three miles and a 10-minute drive from Dell Seton and is undergoing a $320 million expansion to build a women’s health tower to be completed in 2025.

Medical Park Tower.

Medical Park Tower is adjacent to Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin and houses our expanded Digestive Health clinic.

Austin outpatient clinic.
