Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

Providing Comprehensive Training in Cardiac Electrophysiology

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is a comprehensive training program focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders. The program prepares outstanding cardiologists to be leaders in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.

Fellows will develop a broad set of clinical skills in all aspects of arrhythmia evaluation and management and will be directly involved in outpatient and inpatient evaluations in intensive care units, emergency rooms, post-surgical units, cardiology wards and interspecialty consultations.

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship is affiliated with Dell Med’s Department of Internal Medicine.

Training Facilities

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship offers fellows ample opportunities to develop develop skills in all aspects of invasive cardiac electrophysiology in a variety of Dell Med-affiliated training facilities. Fellows will be exposed to diverse technologies and procedures such as mapping systems, radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation, leadless devices, his and left-bundle pacing, subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillators, left atrial appendage closure devices and implantable loop recorders.

Additionally, fellows will learn the appropriate use and interpretation of event monitors, wearable devices and other diagnostic systems and become proficient in non-invasive procedures such as cardioversions and tilt-table testing.

Ascension Seton Medical Center.

Ascension Seton Medical Center is an epicenter for cardiac care in Austin with the largest left ventricular assist device, transplant and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation programs in Central Texas. The Ascension Seton Heart Institute offers among the most advanced, comprehensive heart care in Central Texas. Cardiology specialists, including those focused on cardiac electrophysiology, utilize the latest technology available to diagnose and treat all types of heart conditions.

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Dell Seton Medical Center is a 211-bed Level I trauma teaching hospital and is the primary home for the residency training programs for Dell Medical School. Operated by Ascension Seton, the medical center is part of a growing health district in downtown Austin. Cardiology supports multiple subspecialty services in addition to the complex medical illnesses of the diverse patient population. From cardiac screening to emergency heart care, Dell Seton is focused on comprehensive cardiac care for Central Texas.

Dell Children’s is a multispecialty medical hospital and the only pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center in Central Texas, serving a 46-county area.
