About
Stewart Schaefer, M.D., is a practicing, board-certified hospitalist at both Dell Seton Medical Center and Ascension Seton Medical Center, where he serves as the service line director for the internal medicine-cardiology co-management team. A resident-led service supervised by hospital medicine and cardiology faculty, this innovative service line is rethinking the model by which cardiac patients receive high quality, evidence-based care through service line partnership and collaboration. In addition, Schaefer serves as an assistant chief of the Department of Hospital Medicine, working to align Dell Med’s values with the patient population, hospital and residency program.
Schaefer’s professional areas of interest including improving nurse-provider communication through inclusion and and leveraging EHR technology with his work, bringing CORES to both hospitals.
Schaefer graduated from UT Health Science Center San Antonio with an emphasis in public health. He completed residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters walking Town Lake Trail and eating tacos.
