About

Elizabeth Blankenship, PA-C, FHM, is a physician assistant hospitalist in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Dell Medical School. She has worked in the health care industry for over 20 years and is passionate about quality improvement, education and interprofessional collaboration. She is co-director of the Division of Hospital Medicine’s comanagement service line and leads the development of several surgical service lines with a focus on patient centered care, team communication and best practices.

Blankenship is passionate about education and serves as a preceptor and mentor for advanced practice providers students, incorporating interprofessional collaborative practice teaching foundations into their curriculum. She is an established advocate for advanced practice and the director of advanced practice for the advanced practice providers in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She has previously served Dell Med as a cohort leader in UT Austin’s Foundations of Interprofessional Collaborative Practice course. She has also previously precepted McCombs School of Business students during their Business of Healthcare undergraduate certificate course.

As a champion of health care informatics and director of clinical informatics for the Division of Hospital Medicine, she works closely with Ascension Seton information systems partners to improve aspects of the electronic health record and improve applications and software.

Before becoming a physician assistant, Blankenship worked as an X-ray and CT scan technologist. She enjoys adventures with her husband, her two sons and her cat.
