Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee
The Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee was created in 2016 with the vision of a diverse health care workforce providing equitable care and outcomes for the entire community. This faculty committee, chaired by Aisha White, M.D., holds monthly meetings that are open to the broader DSPC community.
The committee is focused on the following areas:
- Fostering an inclusive culture and environment
- Promoting diversity in recruitment and hiring
- Using an equity lens in clinical care and research
- Creating a structure of accountability and responding to DEI issues and complaints
