Uma Giri, PhD

Uma serves as the Lab Manager at the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes. In this capacity, she will be managing the Developmental Therapeutics laboratory, training fellows and students with many research techniques, coordinating different projects and overseeing the daily operations of the lab. Before joining Dell Med, she worked as Senior Research Scientist at UTMD Anderson Cancer Center.
Uma earned a PhD in Cancer biology/toxicology from New Delhi, India. She received her postdoctoral training from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, in the field of cellular and molecular biology. Uma served at MD Anderson for more than 17 years. While there she was involved in many peer reviewed and collaborative projects, including PO1, RO1, lung and head and neck spore grants, Stand Up 2 Cancer and Cancer Moonshot initiatives. Her expertise is in different areas of drug discovery part of translation/preclinical and clinical research. She has been mentored by many leading oncologists at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Uma is proud and excited to be a part of the Dell Med team involved in collaborative clinical and translational research leading to patient centered cancer care management with in Austin, Texas, nationally and around the world. Outside the office, she is exploring everything Austin can offer.
