Steven Andrews, PhD

Steven is a software developer with a strong focus on biomedical informatics. In his prior position, he was involved in developing and supporting a range of informatics tools for biomedical, translational, and health research, as lead of the Informatics Collaboratory in the Biomedical Informatics Division of the Data Science Department at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. The Collaboratory, a team of developers, research scientists, designers, and database managers, has worked on projects in clinical research informatics, geoinformatics, population health informatics, and clinical informatics.

He was awarded a PhD in Sociology from Harvard University, and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Resident Fellow at the Institute for Social and Policy Studies at Yale University, with an emphasis on quantitative research methods and statistics, formal organizations, and social networks. After the birth of his child, he re-started as a professional developer, and has coded and managed the development of applications in a variety of programing languages, in several technology start-ups and various academic settings. He joined the Data Integration team at Dell Medical School to help develop and support informatics tools and solutions to facilitate research, translational, clinical, and health activities, for the medical school, clinics, and surrounding community.
