Director of Facility Planning & Operations

Ricardo Puemape, Architect, Director of Facility Planning & Operations, is responsible for construction oversight, architectural implementation, building management, landscaping management, exterior signage, and day-to-day employee safety protocols, among other facilities-related operations. Ricardo worked for UT Campus Planning and Project Management and Construction Services for about 9 years before joining the Dell Medical School team. Before that Ricardo worked in private architectural practice and at the Department of State Health Services licensing health care facilities.

Ricardo Puemape was born in Lima, Peru. He was carving sculptures in chalk and wood as a small child. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in December 1975 (with emphasis in drawing, oil painting and sculpture). He then studied Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University at Blacksburg. He obtained a Master of Architecture Degree from Virginia Tech in July 1978. Ricardo is on the teaching staff at the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria where he teaches stone sculpture and wood sculpture. Some of his sculptures are in private collections in Europe and the United States.
