About
Anna Finger, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in UT Health Austin’s Comprehensive Memory Center within the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences. She is also a part of UT Health Austin’s Integrated Behavioral Health care team. She specializes in the field of aging, with her social work practice focusing on systems that impact older adult populations; brain health and memory disorders; caregiving; grief and loss; vital aging; spirituality; and community engagement of older persons.
Additionally, Finger is an assistant professor of practice in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Finger earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Kansas and her master’s degree in social work from UT’s Steve Hicks School of Social Work. She completed clinical social work internships at health care and community agencies, serving older adults in the Central Texas area as well as the Austin Independent School District. She is a graduate scholar of the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education, an initiative of the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Social Work Leadership Institute. She also completed a graduate portfolio in nonprofit studies through UT’s Steve Hicks School of Social Work and LBJ School of Public Affairs.
Finger has experience working as a behavioral health counselor, educator and organizer. She has developed programs within a variety of behavioral health settings to address the needs of individuals, groups and communities. Her current research within UT Health Austin’s Comprehensive Memory Center includes creating an innovative, whole-person model of care using an interprofessional/multidisciplinary team approach, which was presented at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in 2019. In 2018, the Comprehensive Memory Center was recognized as an Innovator in Aging by Health and Human Services for being the first neurology specialty dementia clinic designed to put patients’ health values first.
