Transitional Residency: Curriculum

The Transitional Year is on a 13 - block schedule, beginning at the end of June, in 4-week blocks.
•    10 weeks: Internal Medicine Ward
•    2 weeks: Internal Medicine Clinic
•    4 weeks: Pediatric Wards
•    4 weeks: Pediatric ER
•    4 weeks: General Surgery
•    4 weeks: Trauma Surgery
•    4 weeks: Emergency Medicine
•    4 weeks: Selective (must choose either Neurology or Psychiatry)
•    12 weeks: Electives (4 weeks each) Choose 3: Anesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Physical Medicine/ Rehabilitation, Oncology, Radiology, Neuro Radiology, Oculoplastics, Sports Medicine and others of interest to the resident with approval of the Program Director.
•    4 weeks: Research elective (last block of the academic year)

Call Coverage
•    Surgery: Every 6th night
•    Pediatric Ward: Every 4th night
•    Medicine Ward: Every 5th night
•    Emergency Medicine: 10 hour shifts x 19
