Parasympathetic Nervous System
What are the actions of autonomic receptors in the body?
One of our medical students and a Dell Med professor — Aydin Zahedivash and Michael Lee, PhD — created this interactive figure depicting the actions as a learning tool. Click around and explore!
The receptors are represented as color-coded circular orbs. To see the actions of a specific receptor type, simply click on one of its receptor orbs.
You can also see standard agonists and antagonists to these receptors by clicking the agents. If an agent is an agonist at a receptor, the receptor type and its actions will light up while the others fade away. If an agent is an antagonist at a receptor, the receptor type and its actions will light up, although the actions are crossed because of the negating effects.
