In this installment of Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences’ Parker Expert Lecture Series, Samantha Meltzer-Brody, M.D., MPH, presents “From Bench to Bedside: A Translational Approach to Innovation in Research and Treatment of Perinatal Depression.” Meltzer-Brody is the Assad Meymandi Distinguished Professor and Chair for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is the director of the UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:

  1. Recognize the underlying pathophysiology of perinatal depression.
  2. Become familiar with the novel therapeutics in postpartum depression.
  3. Use innovative approaches to delivery of care in perinatal depression.
