About the Event

The Dell Medical School Global Health Interest Group would like to invite you to the second iteration of our annual conference Global to Local 2021: Health Systems Strengthening to Combat Health Disparities. The goals of this year’s conference are:

  • 1) define and identify key health disparities that affect our communities as well as highlight organizational and programmatic efforts that have been undertaken to address them and
  • 2) discuss system-level strategies, approaches, and solutions for reducing and eliminating health disparities at all levels in our communities.

We’ll be hosting health leaders from across the globe in multiple panels and speaker breakout sessions and featuring a poster session on global health and health equity work.

Keynote Speaker

Jewel Mullen, M.D., MPH, associate dean for health equity at the Dell Medical School, as well as an associate professor in the school’s population health and internal medicine departments.

Featured Speakers

  • Ya-Wen Chiu, Ph.D., professor at Taipei Medical University and leader in Taiwan’s COVID-19 pandemic response.
  • John P. Howe, III, M.D., former president and CEO of the International Project HOPE; president emeritus of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
