In this installment of General Surgery Grand Rounds, Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., MEHP, presents “Entrustable Professional Activities: Our Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity to Advance Surgical Education.” Lindeman is an associate professor of surgery and vice chair of education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.

Objectives
By the end of this presentation, the audience participant should be able to:
- Describe challenges in physician assessment and the relationship to preparedness for unsupervised practice.
- Define entrustable professional activities and their relationship to competencies and milestones.
- Identify strategies to support implementation of entrustable professional activities within a general surgery training program.
