Welcome! The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship is based at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and is the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Austin with a catchment area of 46 counties (That is the size of the state of Ohio!). Our main campus pediatric emergency department volume is approximately 76,000 visits per year with a second north campus that opened in April 2023.

Our mission in Austin is to provide fellows with a training program and individualized learning plan that ensures they are prepared to excel in any career path within the field of pediatric emergency medicine. We offer fellowship curricula for both pediatric and emergency medicine residency-trained applicants and provide clinical, research, scholarship and administrative experiences that prepare graduates to succeed and become leaders in any career niche within our field.

I believe that our curriculum is “never perfect” and we take fellow feedback and innovative new ideas on how to teach important concepts seriously. Fellows have helped every year to make this the fellowship we would have wanted!

As a fellow you will have the unique opportunity to train at a pediatric facility that sees the highest level of acuity while under the guidance and mentorship of the most highly trained pediatric EM faculty in the area. The division has 25+ full-time, fellowship-trained pediatric emergency medicine faculty members dedicated to teaching and clinical care.

Mentorship matters! Fellows are paired with multiple mentors throughout their experience, with specific focus on research, quality, advocacy, administration and work-life balance.

We are enthusiastic about bringing the best and brightest to train at one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States in a dynamic, vibrant and ever-changing community.

Thank you for your interest and consideration. We hope to meet you soon. Please call, email or drop by if you would like to learn more.

Sujit Iyer, M.D.
