Neurology Residency

A group of residents.
Residents with their director.

Our goal is to train outstanding clinical neurologists with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to meet the evolving clinical environment of the 21st century. This includes fostering team-based approaches to patient care and fully integrating opportunities for residents to conduct clinical research.

The Neurology Residency Program is affiliated with the Department of Neurology.

Chief Residents

Training Facilities

Our training facilities include the new Dell Seton Medical Center teaching hospital, UT Health Austin and multiple outpatient sites for outpatient adult neurology, pediatric neurology and psychiatry rotations.

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Our primary inpatient teaching facility is the new Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas operated by Ascension Seton. The modern 211-bed hospital includes a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a level 4 epilepsy monitoring unit with six beds. It will soon have Austin’s first Neurological Intensive Care Unit. It is the referral hub for the evaluation and management of urgent and emergent neurological conditions.

Health Transformation Building.

Dell Med is implementing an innovative, team-based model for providing value-based outpatient care through its clinical practice, UT Health Austin. A full range of practitioners and support staff from multiple disciplines come together around each patient to provide care that is integrated, evidence-based and systematically tracked for quality improvement.

Department of Veterans Affairs Olin E Teague Veteran's Center.

Our residents provide care in the Austin Outpatient Clinic that serves veterans in Austin and surrounding areas. Physicians are part of a patient-aligned care team that includes a primary care provider, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, clerical associate and specialists as needed.

Health Transformation Building.

Residents complete outpatient rotations as part of this comprehensive program with a full array of neurologists and a dedicated stroke center. Teams of subspecialists include epileptologists, clinical neurophysiologists, cognitive behaviorists and post-traumatic head injury specialists.

Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.

Dell Children’s is the only dedicated freestanding pediatric facility in the region, serving a 46-county area and beyond. Residents complete pediatric neurology rotations at the center and learn from leading physicians.

Child Neurology Consultants Austin office.

This practice is composed of pediatric neurologists who specialize in areas such as autism, concussions, epilepsy and more. Dell Med residents complete pediatric neurology rotations at two locations serving infants, children and adolescents up to the age of 19.

Ascension Seton Shoal Creek Hospital.
