Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship

Providing Focused Training in Female Pelvic Medicine

The Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is a fully accredited subspecialty program designed to provide fellows with advanced training in the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of pelvic floor disorders. The program prepares graduates to provide consultation to peers and deliver high-quality, value-based and patient-centered care to women.

The Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship is affiliated with the Department of Women’s Health.

Training Facilities

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT Austin.

Dell Seton Medical Center — the primary teaching hospital for Dell Med — was built in 2017 by Ascension Seton. As Austin’s only urban Level I trauma center, it serves a diverse population. Dell Seton’s collaboration with the medical school, new outpatient sites and wide range of specialty services make it the ideal site for many of our gynecologic and subspecialty surgeries.

Ascension Seton Medical Center.

The focus of this top-rated medical and surgical Magnet hospital is to provide excellent care to the Central Austin community. In the labor and delivery unit, the program serves patients from various practices. Additionally, there are active gynecologic, minimally invasive surgery and specialty surgical services at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin.

Ascension Seton Medical Center Williamson.

Ascension Seton Medical Center Williamson, ranked as high-performing by U.S. News and World Report, is an environment designed with warmth and healing care in mind. The facility features a dedicated women’s center with a separate entrance for obstetrics and gynecology, labor and delivery services, postpartum care and a Level II nursery.

Health Transformation Building.

UT Health Austin, the clinical practice of Dell Med, uses a revolutionary team-based practice model that takes a multidisciplinary approach to treating people with complex medical conditions. Current specialty areas include vulvar disorders, chronic pelvic pain and pelvic floor disorders, with complex contraceptive, reproductive loss and gynecologic oncology care clinics in development.

About the Application Process

The program offers one fellowship position that begins Aug. 1, 2023.

Traditional & Non-Traditional Training

The curriculum includes case-based learning, small group discussions, hands-on simulation and skills workshops, and self-directed learning.
