Ziv Beckerman, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care. Beckerman is also a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon in the Heart Failure, VAD and Transplant Program within the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, the clinical partnership between UT Health Austin and Dell Children’s Medical Center, and surgical director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program at Dell Children’s. He specializes in operating on adults and babies with congenital heart disease and genetic syndromes.
Beckerman earned his medical degree from the University of Debrecen Medical School in Hungary and completed both an internship and a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine’s Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel, where he was named chief resident of the cardiac surgery department. He also completed a fellowship in congenital cardiac surgery at the Edmond J. Safra International Congenital Heart Center at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel, a second fellowship in international congenital cardiac surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital and a third fellowship in advanced aortic cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University. In 2020, Beckerman was awarded the Francis Fontan Fund Aortic Root and Valve Repair fellowship by the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery.
Beckerman has an extensive background in research, writing and teaching. He has received several awards for excellence in teaching and research. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds a medical patent for Vascular Bypass Measurement, Quality Control for Bypass Grafts.
