Shannon Markus, M.D., MPH

About

Shannon Markus, M.D., MPH, is an emergency physician at Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas in addition to her appointment within Dell Medical School’s Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care. A dedicated leader in emergency medicine, she previously served as site medical director and director of quality for the Dell Seton emergency department, spearheading initiatives to improve clinical operations and patient outcomes.

Markus trained at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and she completed her emergency medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center followed by a fellowship in health policy and equity. She is an active mentor, medical educator and researcher with a focus on health equity, quality improvement and optimizing care for vulnerable populations. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and she is an active contributor to JournalFeed, a medical education platform.
