About
Roberto L. Rodriguez, M.D., MPH, is a general pediatrician. In addition to his appointment at Dell Medical School, he serves as a lead pediatrician for Hazel Health, an innovative school-based telemedicine platform serving students in multiple states. Prior to this role, he served as the medical director for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, where he worked to improve health care service delivery to children in the Texas foster care system.
His professional experience includes serving as regional medical director of population health for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia primary care network; medical director of the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section at the Texas Department of State Health Services; senior program officer at the St. David’s Foundation; and ambulatory faculty for the Pediatric Residency at Dell Med and Dell Children’s Medical Center, where he taught primary care pediatrics at CommUnityCare Health Centers.
Rodriguez earned his B.A. in Latin American studies with highest honors from The University of Texas at Austin and his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his pediatric residency training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and then served as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned an MPH and conducted health services research projects examining barriers to care for low-income Latino children. He continues to serve as a preceptor to Dell Med pediatric residents and medical students at CommUnityCare.
