About

Puja Patel, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and a pediatric psychologist who practices at Texas Child Study Center Embedded Behavioral Clinic in the Children’s Blood & Cancer Center at Dell Children’s Medical Center. She received her B.A. in psychology from Baylor University, an M.S. in rehabilitation counseling from UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a doctorate in school psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. She completed her clinical internship in pediatric and child psychology at the Children’s Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Texas Child Study Center.

Patel specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy with youths dealing with anxiety and depression as well as in medical coping of adjustment to chronic illness, pain management and adherence to ongoing medical regimes. As part of the clinical faculty at TCSC, Patel is also involved in the training program, which includes teaching and supervising future clinicians.
