About
Lawrence Buxton, M.D., Ph.D is board-certified in neurology. He was elected fellow in the American Academy of Neurology, and he practices comprehensive neurology at his clinic office on the campus of Ascension Seton Highland Lakes Hospital in Burnet, Texas. He mentors neurology residents at the adult neurology clinic at Dell Seton Medical Center and has established an elective in rural neurology at his clinic office in Burnet, whereby neurology residents can participate in the care of neurology patients in the rural setting. Residents can tailor their elective rotation so they come to Burnet on days that fit their schedules.
Before entering a career in medicine, Buxton studied speech pathology and audiology and earned a Ph.D at The Ohio State University with research interests and delayed auditory feedback and its effect on speech transmission. Following graduation, he taught at Howard University and did research at the speech transmission laboratory, a combined venture of Georgetown University and Howard University. He soon developed an interest in neurology and decided to pursue a new career in medicine.
