About

Laura Amoscato, Ph.D., earned a Ph.D. in school psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. She completed her doctoral internship at the Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center in Erie, Pennsylvania and her postdoctoral fellowship at Austin Child Guidance Center. Amoscato served as the assistant director and director of the American Psychological Association-accredited psychology internship training program at Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center as well as the director of quality assurance and quality improvement. In addition to her appointment at Dell Medical School, she is a pediatric psychologist at the Grace Grego Maxwell Mental Health Unit at Dell Children’s Medical Center.

Amoscato’s work focuses primarily on children with disruptive behavior disorders and a history of multiple complex traumas. She has also worked with internalizing disorders such as depression and anxiety. Her current clinical work focuses on the use of evidence-based interventions to improve client and family functioning. She has an interest in working collaboratively with children and families to strengthen the entire family system. Amoscato is also involved in a Dell Med training program that includes teaching and supervising future clinicians. Recently, she has begun working with children who are survivors of human trafficking through a collaboration between Dell Med and a local organization.
