About
Kenneth Shaffer, M.D., FACC, FAAP, is a pediatric cardiologist with Dell Childrens’ Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology in Austin. Shaffer received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at the Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center. He completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
Shaffer served as a pediatric cardiologist in the Air Force and later as a faculty member at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio prior to moving to Austin in 2002. In 2013, he returned to The University of Texas at Austin to complete his health information technology certification. In 2015, he was appointed as an associate director of quality and safety in Pediatrix, and he sits in leadership roles within the American Academy of Pediatrics through the Congenital Heart Public Health Consortium and other national cardiology organizations.
Shaffer is the immediate past president/governor of the Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and he remains active in the ACC on the Health Affairs Committee, Coding Workgroup, NCDR steering committee and the ACPC Advocacy Workgroup.
Shaffer is board-certified in pediatric cardiology and is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology.
